Far away, so far,
there is only my star.
She's alive, so bright,
for her the poems I write.
In the evening I wait
for her to come near,
to whisper in my ear:
- He still loves you, my dear.
And so, day by day,
I know that my star
will bring me to sleep.
Even though I have
a heart with a scar,
in every possible way
my love is so deep.
Beyond the sky
is someone
my thoughts fly by.
And I know that,
whenever he looks
into the night sky,
he will see my teary eyes
which only for him
shines.

BIOGRAPHY
Selma Kopić is a professor of Bosnian language and literature, born in 1962 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She is the author of two textbooks and one workbook for elementary school. She worked and works as a trainer at seminars, a reviewer, a lecturer...
She is the winner of the "Best Teacher EX YU" award, 2022.
She published three independent books of poetry:
"Znak" PrintCom Tuzla,
''The Monument of Love'' Poetry Planet Publishing House, Philippines,
"Slagalica", Publishing and translation house "Darawesch", Germany/Bulgaria
and the joint collection "Cosmic Rainbow" India, with five other authors.
Her stories and poems have won awards and have been published in anthologies and magazines in Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world.

Third prize "Mak Dizdar" for the unpublished collection of songs "Slagalica"/"Puzzle", Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2008;
Golden plaque, "Poetry of the Year 2020", Balkan Poets' Union, BiH, 2021;
First prize for a triptych of love poems at the competition "Poem nad poems", BiH 2021;
Silver plaque, "Poetry of the Year 2021", Balkan Poets' Union, BiH, 2022;
Silver plaque "Poetry of the Year", Balkan Poetry Union, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2023.

Second prize for women's travel story, "Amity" Belgrade 2023k;
