A tiny little baby, soft and tender,
I clasped your hand,
Only in your arms did I surrender,
You worked untiringly without a break
Sacrificed your joys for my sake
Never did you mind or complain,
You did not stir, or pay heed to the pain,
You told me stories & put me to sleep singing a gentle tune,
Mummy, you are my one and only, be it morning, night or noon.
And as time flew,
The little me grew,
Into a fine lady, a surgeon, a warrior princess,
Swift, skilled & strong for victory & success
I now understand & see
By your actions how powerful you made me
But you taught me to always keep my heart pure,
And choose peace & happiness no matter how much it took to endure.
Miracles & magic you filled our lives with,
Teaching us that believing in fortune is just a myth.
Follow your dreams you said
And life will never be dull or bad...
So often it happens, that gloom settles in,
My path seems dark, blurred and dim,
But I don't stop & you know why,
It's because you taught me to sing when I wanted to cry!
Thank you Mummy, I am ready to take on the world,
With love, devotion, honesty together hurdled,
You now must know,
If it weren't for you, where else would we go,
Even the Gods have bent down at your feet,
For where else is heaven, if not underneath?
